Individual beakers (1) have a circumferential rim (6) at the upper edge (4) which, after beaker filling, acts as a sealing edge for a lid and enables adjacent beakers to be joined together to form a single unit. Independent claims are made for: (a) a process for manufacturing a beaker unit in which individual beakers are injection molded or thermoformed and then joined together at the upper edge by ultrasonic welding or bonding; (b) a combination of two or more units of individual beakers and/or multiple beakers connected at their edges; (c) equipment for ultrasonic welding or bonding together of two or more individual beakers.
