PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the influence of the presence of a cargo on a fork and its weight in the operation of a cargo handling cylinder of a fork lift truck. SOLUTION: This controller for a cargo handling cylinder of a fork lift truck is provided with a hydraulic pump 5 delivering hydraulic fluid, a proportional electromagnetic valve 8 regulating a flow rate of the hydraulic fluid delivered from the hydraulic pump 5 to supply a desired flow rate to the cargo handling cylinder, a controller 9 which outputs an output signal based on an on-off switch 10 operated by a worker to the proportional electromagnetic valve 8 to control the operation of the proportional electromagnetic valve 8. The controller is provided with a load detection means for detecting load data of the cargo handling cylinder is provided, and an output signal to be outputted to the proportional electromagnetic valve 8 is changed in accordance with the load data detected by the load detection means in the controller 9.
