PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting overload of an electrical machine part are provided to recognize overload state of the overall electrical machine part and compensate the load by change of velocity. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting overload of an electrical machine part includes the steps of determining whether an output voltage of a switched mode power supply(SMPS) is lower than a reference voltage(normal voltage) or not, turning off all loads supplied to each motor when the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage and sequentially turning on predetermined motors for determining the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, reducing velocities of the motors if the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage and determining whether the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, and stopping operation of the motors when the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage and finishing all routine after displaying an abnormal state of a corresponding motor or returning to the first step if the output voltages in the second and third steps are not lower than the reference voltage.
