PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a desired value to be set as a reference on an extension line of a fixed value setting mode for selecting the reference (fixed) value in a reference table for setting a reference of a comparator to an insulation resistance meter. SOLUTION: The insulation resistance meter is such that a memory 16 stores a plurality of comparator references as fixed values every rated measuring voltage, comparator function setting keys are operated to select one of the comparator references, a display 18 indicates the selected reference on a specified area and an insulation resistance is compared with it. When the comparator function setting keys are operated in specified procedures, a control means CPU judges it to be an arbitrary setting mode of the comparator reference and additionally stores the current measured insulation resistance as an arbitrary reference value in the memory 16.
