PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely investigate and record a tall building from a remote place by supporting its own weight of an observation unit body by always sticking by suction either one of two pairs of adsorption plates to the wall surface to be observed of the building and observing and recording the wall surface by inching an observation camera mounted on the main body. SOLUTION: The observation unit body 10 hung from the top of a tall building 100 along the external wall to be observed of the building 100 is vertically inched on the surface of the wall by means of two pairs of adsorption units which are alternately stuck to the wall by suction and moved on the wall. The external wall is observed and recorded by means of an observation camera mounted on the unit body 10 and recorded on a recording and console panel 80 by relaying and transmitting data. Since this series of operations is unitarily performed from the console panel of the panel 80 and the unit body 10 is inched in a state where the unit body 10 is stuck to the surface of the wall by suction, the unit body 10 can move along the surface of an overhung wall. In addition, the observed and recorded position is recorded in such a way that the abscissa of a measured area is manually or automatically marked on a recorded picture and the ordinate is marked by copying a measure drawn out from the unit body 10 on the recorded picture. Therefore, the position can be specified easily.
