PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate data recovery processing on the occurrence of data read error by equally bisecting all disk volumes so as to make capacity equal and recording surfaces different and downloading firmware, to which a function for writing the same data on both the volumes is added, to a hard disk device. SOLUTION: Magnetic recording surfaces 611-618 and 621-628 are equally bisected to a master volume 61 composed of magnetic recording surfaces 611-618 and a slave volume 62 composed of magnetic recording surfaces 621-628. The state of equally bisecting the magnetic recording surfaces 611-618 and 621-628 and head is controlled by firmware and MPU 27 to which a data duplexing function at a hard disk controller 2 is added. Data on a data buffer 23 are sequentially written in the magnetic recording surface 611 of the master volume 61 and continuously, the same data (mirror data) are sequentially written in the slave volume 62 so that data are duplexed.
