The invention relates to compounds having plant fungus inhibiting activity, said compounds being of formula (I) including their stereoisomers, enantiomers, racemates and diastereomers, wherein R is a straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated, carbon chain containing 9-19 carbon atoms, provided also that any two adjacent carbon atoms in the chain may form part of an alicyclic, carbocyclic aromatic, or heterocyclic ring; and a method for combatting fungi, which comprises applying to the locus thereof at least one such compound. These compounds may be prepared by a reaction involving formation of the -CONH- group. A plant fungus inhibiting composition comprises at least one compound of the formula set forth above, together with at least one compatible diluent, carrier, surface active agent or other adjuvant. |
