PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film magnetic head which has excellent corrosion resistance and has an antiferromagnetic layer at which an exchange anisotropic magnetic field is stable to a temp. change. SOLUTION: An X-Mn alloy contg. at least Pd among Ru, Rh, Ir, Pd and Pt is used as the antiferromagnetic layer exhibiting exchange anisotropic bonding with a ferromagnetic layer 4. If the content of the Pd atoms described above is 10 to 20 at.% the excellent corrosion resistance is obtd. and the high exchange anisotropic magnetic field is generated. The alloy has the better corrosion resistance than the corrosion resistance of an Fe-Mn alloy used heretofore.
