PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting device which allows a measurement tool to be attached/detached from/to the measurement head speedily and easily, and manually or automatically without requiring any tool. SOLUTION: An assembly 3 for connecting the measurement tool 2 to the measurement head has three support bodies 12, which are positioned at the periphery of a shaft B and restrain the motion of an output member 8 and connections 10 for connecting the tool 2 to the head in a balanced state. The assembly has a releasable locking means 14 arranged between the connections 10 for the tool and the output member 8. This locking means 14 has engaging means 20 and 54 which are positioned substantially along the shaft B and an operation member 21 which is associated with those engaging means and controls the release of those engaging means.
