<p>A sheet metal housing for a luminaire comprises a top sheet metal stamping 10 defining a central ballast shelf 12 on which a ballast 14 is mounted. First and second ends of the top sheet metal stamping 10 are bent 90‹ on opposite sides of the central ballast shelf 12. The ends are further bent back 180‹ upon themselves to form a double wall (35, Figure 3) and then bent a further 90‹ so as to project towards each other. The very ends of the first and second ends of the top sheet metal stamping 10 are further bent and interconnected to form a three wall hanging system (47, Figure 5) making up the top sheet metal housing enclosure (Figure 5). This is coupled to the bottom sheet metal housing enclosure (Figure 6), wherein the first and second ends of the bottom sheet metal stamping (44, Figure 6) are bent 90‹ about a central section, to form an assembled sheet metal housing for a luminaire.</p> |
