PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC generator for vehicle which has lower noise than the conventional ones. SOLUTION: A stator 30 has a plurality of stator magnetic poles 32 and one stator winding 34 is wound around each stator magnetic pole 32. Meanwhile, a rotor 10 has claw-like magnetic poles 12X1-12X7, 12Y1-12Y7 located so as to face the stator magnetic poles 32. Here the number of the claw-like magnetic poles is T and that of the stator magnetic poles is K, the ratio of T to K is 6n±2:6 (n is an integer 2 or larger). In this example, the number T of the claw- like magnetic poles is set to 14 and the number K of the stator magnetic poles is 12.
