The invention relates to an electrically driven machine for an internal combustion engine (1), intended preferably to vehicles, operating as a starter when the internal combustion engine starts up, and then switched so as to work as a generator to feed the vehicle electrical system. Said electrically driven machine is positioned in the drive train, between the internal combustion engine and the gearbox, so as to be continuously in an operative connection. Said operative connection can be actuated by bevel gear coupling, thereby enabling continuously high mechanical output power to be transmitted.
