PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a water-base ink for ink jet recording which improves the setting density of a print, exhibits improved fixing to a printing material, water resistance, and storage stability, and hardly causes scorching on a printer head. SOLUTION: Water, a neutralizing agent, and if necessary a surfactant are added to a soln. prepd. by dissolving a polymer having salt-forming groups and a hydrophobic dye in an amt. of 50-200 wt.% of the polymer in a water-soluble org. solvent to ionize the salt-forming groups in the polymer. The resultant mixture is emulsified, and the solvent is removed form the emulsion, thus giving an ink contg. a water-base dispersion of polymer particles contg. the dye sealed therein. |
