Starter device for diesel pile hammer

The pile hammer has a cylinder (11) with moveable piston (14) and impact tool (13) at the end. The piston is moved into start position by a starter device (15), which engages on the end (16) of the piston away from the impact tool. The piston end has a positive rotary-symmetrically forming for engagement. The starter device is formed by a grab unit, which is moved axially within the cylinder by a lifting and/or lowering device. The grab unit has moveable grab arms to engage around the piston end during its movement into start position.
