Diesel emission treatment using precious metal supported on titania aerogel

Treating exhaust gases from a diesel engine involves using a sulphur resistant lean-NOx catalyst in the exhaust gas system. The catalyst has at least 0.25 wt.% precious metal, either platinum, palladium, rhodium or a mixture of them, impregnated from a solution on to an aerogel titania support. The amount of precious metal used depends on the weight of the support.
