<p>Fluid transfer apparatus comprises a sample chamber of fixed volume, means for filling the chamber with fluid to be sampled from a body of fluid into which the chamber is inserted, means for isolating the chamber from the body of fluid and means to mix a reaction inhibiting fluid with the fluid so isolated in the chamber sufficiently thoroughly and rapidly after isolation to enable data indicative of the composition of the fluid at the time of isolation to be obtained by analysis of the mixed sample and means to discharge the mixed sample from the chamber. The apparatus permits the progress of reactions occurring in the fluid phase to be monitored.</p> |
