PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To photograph both horizontally and vertically by moving plural image pickup elements for displaying and recording a stereoscopic video to one of a position where the longitudinal direction of its photodetective face is placed horizontally and a position where the longitudinal direction is placed vertically. SOLUTION: Camera heads 3a and 3b hold respectively photographing lenses 1a and 1b and image pickup elements 2a and 2b converting an optical image formed by them to an electric video signal. From the video signal outputted from the elements 2a and 2b, a stereo video signal with parallax is constituted to output to a liquid crystal panel with a lenticular lens to generate a stereoscopic video. The elements 2a and 2b are constituted to be turmable in the direction of arrows C and D or the opposite direction with the optical axes of the lenses 1a and 1b. At the time of changing from horizontal photographing to vertical photographing, the elements are turned by 90 deg. from a position where a horizontal viewing angle is larger to a position where a vertical viewing angle is larger.
