PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline detergent composition which has excellent detergency and shows less foaming, by incorporating into the composition, as essential components, an alkali metal hydroxide; alkali metal salts of orthophosphoric acid, a hydroxy carboxylic acid and a copolymer of isoamylene/ maleic anhydride; and a nonionic surfactant. SOLUTION: This detergent composition comprises, as essential components, (a) 0.5 to 5wt.% alkali metal hydroxide, (b) an alkali metal salt of orthophosphoric acid, (c) an alkali metal salt of a hydroxy carboxylic acid, (d) an alkali metal salt of a copolymer of isoamylene/maleic anhydride and (e) 0.02 to 1wt.% nonionic surfactant, wherein the weight ratio of (b):(c):(d) is in the range of 2 to 10:0.5 to 2.5:0.5 to 2.5 and the total weight of (b), (c) and (d) components is 0.3 to 1.5wt.%. Preferably, (e) component consists essentially of polyoxyethylene alkylphenyl ether and a polyether polyol at an weight ratio of 1:2 to 3:1. |
