PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently generate bend orientation orπtwist orientation from spray orientation to lower the defect ob orientation. SOLUTION: This panel is constituted by holding liquid crystals 14 having positive dielectric anisotropy between a pair of substrates 1 and 20, forming electrodes 2, 7 for applying an electric field to the liquid crystals 14 on the respective inside surfaces of a pair of these substrates 1, 20 and forming the liquid crystals 14 that the liquid crystals make the spray orientation. In such a case, the panel is provided with a nucleus generating means 31, by which the nuclei to accelerate the transition from the spray orientation to theπtwist orientation or bend orientation are generated.
