The side impact absorber has a supporting body (3,3') which is connected to an internal side wall covering (2) in the boot. There is a supporting arc (4,4') built out from the support body. The device also includes an internal rod (5) and an external hollow rod (5'), both of which are supported by the supporting arc. The internal rod is fitted inside the external hollow rod. A compression spring (7) is fitted between them.
