The pump and injector nozzle are separated from each other. They are connected together by feed and return pipes (9,10). The pump plunger (4) has a stop (8) edge and a control (7) edge above it generating the injection pressure, the plunger being lifted and turned, and the pump has no valves. Fuel replacement in the nozzle is virtually continuous.
