A container (10) for a reel of photographic film or magnetic tape comprises a base (30) and a cover (20). The base (20) has a generally circular bottom wall (32) and a circumferential side wall (34). The cover (20) has a generally circular top wall (22) and a circumferential side wall (24). The cover top wall (22) has a plurality of projection combinations (26), each of the projection combinations (26) comprising a plurality of projections (26a, 26b) extending downwardly from the interior surface (22b) of the cover top wall (22). The projections (26a, 26b) within a projection combination (26) are spaced apart by a distance less than the greatest of the length and width dimensions of the projections (26a, 26b). When the cover (20) and the base (30) are assembled contiguously, the projections (26a, 26b) maintain the base side wall (34) spaced apart from the interior surface (22b) of the cover top wall (22), to permit air to flow within the spaces between projections.
