The invention discloses a polyurethane prepared from: a) a diisocyanate, b) a polyol; and c) a diamine chain expander containing amide bonds, wherein said amide bond-containing amide chain expander is; wherein R is a straight or branched chain C2-C12 substituted or unsubstituted alkylene, C3-C12 substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkylene, or aromatic segments represented by general formulas I-IV: (See Formula); wherein Y represents CnH2n, wherein n represents 1 or 2, O, S, SO2, or is not present; R3 and R4, respectively, represent halogen, and CH3, CH3O, C2H50, or H, and can be equal or different; (See Formula); wherein R5, R6, R7 and R8, respectively, represent halogen, C1-C6 alkyl or H, and can be equal or different, R1 and R2 are, respectively, aromatic segments represented by general f halogen, or C1-C6 alkyl or H.
