PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the control of engine start and assistance for drive torque with an induction unit by controlling the induction unit depending on the stored control data when a fault of the number of rotations signal generating means is detected. SOLUTION: When a start signal is received at the initial control to start an engine 53 but a fault of a rotation sensor 54 is detected, a switch 2c is turned to the side of a current reference generator 2b on the basis of a rotation sensor fault signal. Therefore, the control path is switched to that through a timer 2a and the current reference generator (CG) 2b. CG 2b receives time t from the timer 2a, generates the current reference based on the preset current amplitude preference I and frequency reference f and outputs these data to a PWM control unit 57. The PWM control unit 57 sends signal to an inverter 58 depending on the current reference and the inverter 58 supplies an AC of the current amplitude and frequency corresponding to the current reference to an induction unit 52 to start the engine 53.
