摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the adhesive property of gold and provide an optically transparent metal adhesive layer by forming the metal adhesive layer of nickel plated with thickness sufficient to reinforce the adhesive property of gold to the silica surface but insufficient to act as an obstacle to the infrared passage of a gold layer. SOLUTION: A mirror 11 of high reflectance is needed to obtain satisfactory coupling to an optical fiber 10. This characteristic is provided by the mirror 11 vapor-deposited to the surface 14 of the optical fiber 10. The mirror 11 includes an adhesion accelerator (or adhesive) layer 15 and a reflectible gold layer 16. The adhesive layer 15 is a thin film layer containing nickel. Nickel phosphorus(Ni-P) is formed in the state of being plated from electroless nickel containing hypophosphite. The adhesive layer 15 is plated with thickness of 850nm, for instance, sufficient to reinforce the adhesive property of gold to the silica surface of the optical fiber 10 but insufficient to act as an obstacle to the infrared passage of the gold layer 16.
