PURPOSE: To properly performing cleaning with an appropriate timing and to prevent excessive cleaning. CONSTITUTION: A period from starting of feeding of a form 14 by a fed roll 13 to detecting of the form 14 is counted and when this period is found to be short so as to interrupt cleaning, the fed paper sheet is placed under standby for a while by a registration gate 17. Also, a period from detection of a n-pieces of the form by a form sensor 16 to detecting of n+1 paper sheet is calculated and when this period is found to be a specified period or longer, cleaning of a transfer roll 19 is performed. Further, a flag set at the time of starting image formation and cleared at the time of its finishing is stored in a nonvolatile memory and when the flag is found to be set at the time of switching power ON, meticulous cleaning is performed equal to cleaning after an emergency stop. |
