PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable replacement with a natural timbre by synthesizing a musical sound with a timbre selected out of recognized present timbres in a timbre table according to a past history if a specified timbre is absent. SOLUTION: Playing information is received from outside through a MIDI interface 1. The received playing information is stored in a specific MIDI buffer. A CPU 2 scans this MIDI buffer and performs a process corresponding to data when the data are present. The CPU 2 sends an indication for the generation of a musical sound signal corresponding to the note data to a musical sound synthesizing circuit 6. The musical sound synthesizing circuit 6 generates a musical sound signal according to the instruction. Here, when the timbre data corresponding to a specific timbre are not present in the timbre table, currently set timbre data are replaced with timbre data selected out of recognized present timbre data in the timbre table according to the past history to generate the sound. |
