The invention concerns a motor vehicle safety arrangement with a pedal mechanism at least one bearing block (23) with at least one pedal (16 to 18) articulated thereon. The bearing block (23) is held by a carrier component (1) which extends approximately over the width of the vehicle and is at a distance from a scuttle panel (6) delimiting the passenger compartment. In order to prevent injury to the feet on front impact, the carrier component (1) is resistant to bending and uncoupled from the scuttle panel (6). The distance between the carrier component (1) and scuttle panel (6) is dimensioned such that, in the event of intrusion of the scuttle panel as a result of a collision, the position of the carrier component (1) does not vary substantially.
