The invention concerns a method of finding and displaying components of an electronic circuit in order to test the operation of said circuit. The information provided by the circuit diagram is stored in the form of graphic output data for creating a circuit diagram and in the form of internal circuit diagram data in any format. A circuit diagram extracted from the stored graphic output data of the circuit is displayed on a screen. The stored internal circuit diagram data enable the co-ordinates of any circuit component to be determined and these co-ordinates are then stored in a search file for finding selected circuit components. Furthermore, the circuit diagram co-ordinates of the circuit components stored in the search file can also be marked on the screen for the circuit diagram extract displayed. The circuit component can be graphically selected by the co-ordinate position marked on the screen.
