Fuel assembly comprises a lattice member defining rhombic fuel rod cells and rhombic thimble cells contg. fuel rods and thimbles respectively. Deflectors attached to the lattice member protrude over each rod cell and deflect the fluid stream about the fuel rod. Also claimed is a fuel assembly capable of deflecting a component of a liquid stream flowing past the fuel assembly. The lattice member has a hexagonal transverse contour and defines rhombic fuel rod and rhombic thimble cells. Curved deflector vanes attached to the lattice member, protrude over each rod cell obliquely to the fluid stream and deflect the flow about the longitudinal axis of each rod cell.
