<p>Device is intended for use with animal hides, furs, fleeces or fabrics in which the thickness of the piece is small compared with its length and breadth. The pieces are stacked in a pile placed on a pallet; the latter can be raised automatically so that the upper piece on the pile will always be at the same level. A suction gripper lifts the pieces one by one and places them at definite intervals on a conveyor belt for transport to the working stations. The suction head is in the form of an inverted 'U' with the two stems ending in concertina-type mouthpieces of elastic material; the head is attached to an arm operated hydraulically or pneumatically by a piston rod. The unstacking is effected mechanically without the manual handling necessary hitherto.</p> |
