PURPOSE:To realize a quantum operating element for performing XOR operation or XNOR operation at high rate with very low power consumption which can be fabricated through a simple process. CONSTITUTION:Quantum dot QD1 and QD2 are arranged in two stage through an interval sufficient for tunneling electrons. Electrons are fed to the quantum dot QD2 through optical pumping and then fed to the quantum dot QD1 through tunneling. The input bit information represents the whether electrons are fed to the quantum dot QD2 or not. A light having a wavelength resonant to the energy difference between the subbands of the quantum dot QD1 is outputted and the output bit information represents whether the output light is absorbed or not. This constitution allows XOR operation or XNOR operation. |
