To close or expose an opening (14) in the wall (12) of a container, a shutoff valve (18) is mounted on the outer side of the wall in front of the opening (14) so that it can pivot open and closed. Attached to the valve (18) is a deflector which is located on the inner side of the wall in front of the opening (14) and is carried along when the valve (18) is pivoted so that it blocks the opening (14) when the valve (18) is closed and exposes the opening when the valve (18) is open. <IMAGE>
