The appts. has a dialyser (12) divided by a semi-permeable membrane (14) into a dialysis liq. chamber (16) and a blood chamber (18). A dialysis liq. path (20) passes through the dialysis liq. chamber (16) and has a dialysis liq. supply (24) at one end and a drain connection at the other end. An extra-corporal blood path (36) passes through the blood chamber (18); whilst a blood pump (42) is provided upstream of the blood chamber. A flushing liq. container (46) is connected to the blood path (36), and an ultrafiltration device (32) withdraws liq. from the blood through the membrane (14). The container is connected to the blood path (36) by a connection line (44) upstream of the blood pump, and an occludable actuator (48,50) is provided in the connection line (44). A control unit (58), for operating the actuator (48,50), periodically switches the appts. (10) so that in a first phase, the clamping action of the actuator is relieved to allow delivery of a certain flushing liq. quantity through the blood path by the action of the pump. In a second phase, the ultrafiltration unit is operated so that, in addn. to the blood serum quantity to be withdrawn from the patient, the supplied flushing liq. quantity is withdrawn from the patient. |
