PURPOSE:To effectively use a memory by allocating and storing plural documents, which are separately read, in the memory for the page, displaying plural documents for one page in retrieval mode at the same time, and outputting a specified document. CONSTITUTION:When a small fixed-form document like a visiting card which is smaller than the size of one page of the memory 34 is stored as a new page, a memory area which is sectioned, page by page, is prepared on the memory 34 by specification (e.g. size A4) from a keyboard 38. A size deciding means 40 decides the size of the document and an allocating process means 42 allocates a document, which is carried in from an automatic feeder, to the memory area as large as its pages in order and writes a screen of one page in the memory 34. For retrieval, the image is displayed, page by page, and when a target document is specified, a masking process means 52 masks the document so as to erase the document other than the target document on a display screen, so that only the target document is extracted and printed out. |
