Labelling machine with facility to miss items - has cam operated clutch to disengage label drive temporarily

The labels are applied to glue coated rollers rotating about separate axes (3) on a rotating table. The rollers pick up labels and apply them to the items via a transfer system. To cover missing items on the item feed a simple clutch lever (20) on the machine baseplate interacts with a control arm (19) on the roller drive to temporarily stop the labelling action without stopping the workflow. The roller drive has gear segments (8) on tilt arms (7) driving pinions (4) on the roller axes. A spring loaded clutch bolt (8) holds the drive together and acts as a torque limiting clutch. The clutch lever has a shaped face (2) to interact with the control arm. ADVANTAGE - The controlled clutch allows uninterrupted workflow with gaps in the workflow feed and with no wasted labels.
