PURPOSE: To easily produce a voluminous knit fabric suitable for forming a cushion, etc., having fixed shape on a two-bed flat knitting machine by knitting a pocket-shaped bulged part from a base plane continuously and successively over the length of the knit fabric. CONSTITUTION: In the knitting of a pocket-shaped bulged part 12 from a base plane 11 continuously and successively over the whole length of the knit fabric 10, first a knitting region 1 is produced and, in this region, a pocket 12 is formed by knitting from the 1st stitch 16 of the maximum knitting width Bmax over the whole base knitting width smaller than the maximum knitting width with a thread 15 supplied from a thread guide 14 and offsetting the base knitting width from one course to the other course until the knitting reaches the 2nd edge 17 of the maximum knitting width. Successively, the knitting is carried out by offsetting in the reverse direction in a similar manner until the knitting reaches the 1st edge 16 in the maximum knitting width and forming a wale 13 with threads 21, 22 extending to the front side of the knit fabric 10 and threads 20, 23 extending to the rear side of the fabric to fix the shape. A voluminous knit fabric can easily be produced with a two-bed flat knitting machine. |
