PURPOSE:To utilize a sweet potato for a decoration or the like by carrying out a series of processes from freezing defrosting to squeezing to remove juice from a sweet potato, drying the sweet potato, forming a cut-out face in the sweet potato and then, drawing characters, figures, etc., on the cut-out face. CONSTITUTION:After a sweet potato is frozen one night in an ice box, it is defrosted in an approximately 0.5% aqueous solution of sodium hydrogensulfite. The whole of the sweet potato is gradually squeezed by a squeezer to remove moisture up to a predetermined degree of dehydration, for example, 40%. Then, the shape is properly fixed, and the sweet potato is dried by the ventilation. The dried substance keeps the shape of the sweet potato, but the volume is reduced to 1/3. A peel part 1 of the dried substance is partially removed to form a cut-out face 2. Characters, figures, carvings are formed on the cut-out face 2. |
