PURPOSE:To produce the subject fiber for a filter tip of a cigarette, having a specified degree of substitution and a specified surface area by immersing a fiber as the raw material in a mixture solvent composed of a poor solvent to cellulose acetate and a good solvent in a specified condition. CONSTITUTION:A poor solvent to cellulose acetate, e.g. ethanol is mixed with a good solvent such as acetone in 10 to 50wt.% mixture ratio of the above- mentioned good solvent. In the resultant mixture solvent, a cellulose acetate fiber as the raw material is immersed at <=50 deg.C for 30 sec to 120min, thus producing the objective fiber having 1.0 to 2.9 degree of substitution and >0.1m<2>/g specific surface area. |
