A control system is claimed for a gas processing plant which has a cyclically operated drying appts. for gas component extn. from a gas mixt. and a flow controller for selectively passing the gas mixt. through a gas flow path contg. a drying agent during gas drying cycles of the dryer in order to adsorb the gas component and for passing a gaseous cleaning medium through the drying agent during cleaning cycles in order to regenerate the drying agent by removal of at least part of the adsorption prod. The control system, used to control cyclic-operation of the drying appts., includes (i) a controller which is connected to the gas mixt. supply and the dryer and which has devices for establishing operation of the supply during gas mixt. feed and for operating the flow controller to control the drying and cleaning cycles; and (ii) a regulator which cooperates with the devices of the controller to control the cleaning cycle duration so that the cleaning flow is regulated during cleaning cycles in reaction to operation of the mixt. supply. Also claimed are a gas processing plant and a process for regulating the sequence of drying and cleaning cycles in a gas processing plant. USE/ADVANTAGE - The control system is used to control adsorption drying appts. for drying compressed air. It controls the operation on the basis of the supply compressor operating cycle, rather than on supply requirements, to maintain precise dryer control without the need for sensors in the dryer.
