A supermarket trolley has a basket (19) mounted on two side frames (2,3) which are supported on wheels (7). A platform (23) for carrying large articles consists of a grid (33) rigidly attached to an arm (25) which is pivoted to a lug (13) on the lower part of each side frame (2,3). The arm (25) is held in its supporting position by a strut (34) which is also pivoted to the frames (2,3). When the platform is not in use the strut (35) can be disconnected from the arm (25) and swung downwards to lie against the side frames. The platform then can be swung inwards between the side frames.
