PURPOSE:To extremely narrow the tolerance range of the external form dimensions without complicating a forming tool by forming a profile member by a harder material than an elastomer compound, connecting the compound to a cover unit, and forming a packing receiver by the profile member. CONSTITUTION:A cover member 10, a cover holder 11, and a profile member 13 are introduced in a forming tool 1 having an upper half part 2 and a lower half part 3. Further, an elastomer compound 9 is charged so as to fill the peripheral gap, and the cover member 10 is connected with the cover holder 11 by the compound 9 to form a cover unit 20 for vehicle roof which is provided with a peripheral edge packing 16. In this case, the profile member 13 forming a packing receiver 14 is made of a harder material than the elastomer compound 9, and introduced into the forming tool 1 so that it is kept away from the unit consisting of the cover member 10 and the cover holder 11. |
