Foamed waste polystyrene (I) is removed and reused by dissolving in a solvent (II). Appts. comprises, airtight closable container for (II) upon which a container for (I) is placed, and means for conveying (I) from its (upper) container into the (II) (lower) container. (I) is added to (II) to satn.. A hardener is added to soln. of (I) in (II) (for use as adhesive). A collecting vehicle picks up at least one container filled with (I) and puts down at least one empty container for (I), appts. for dissolving (I) being arranged on the vehicle so that dissolving (I) can be at least started during the journey. Or (I) is brought to a collecting appts. and (I) is dissolved in situ. Soln. of (I) is transported away and/or reused. Soln. container is sepd. from appts. and transported away. (II) is evaporated and (I) and (II) are reused.
