<p>A method of pre-treatment of a substrate which is to be subjected to paint, for example the floor grid of a paint spray booth, to facilitate subsequent removal of paint, comprises applying a liquid composition to the substrate to form a tenacious aqueous barrier film of low volatility thereon.
