PURPOSE: To manufacture a long narrow tape type superconductor by continuously melting the end part of a wire supply raw material, forming a melted bead in the tip part, feeding a cooled tape base or a backing material to the melted bead so as to bring it into contact with the melted bead, and then, wiping the melted material on the tape base. CONSTITUTION: A melted bead 28 of a superconductive compound or its element is formed so as to be wiped on a moving substrate 16, and a single/plural film/ films 30 with a thickness of about 0.0127-0.0508mm (1/2-2min) is/are formed. The volume of the melted bead 28 is kept constant substantially as a supply raw material wire 14 is brought close to the substrate 16 and continuously supplied. In this case, the tip part 26 of the advancing wire is melted by means of a laser heat source 12, or alternatively, an arc is sparked between two advancing wires, so that the bead 28 is formed. In addition, the welded film/films is/are heated on-line, and diffusion in the film or between the films is promoted. Using a laser tracking device 34, the thickness of the welded film and its continuity are monitored and controlled. |
