PURPOSE:To enhance not only ink receptivity and recording image quality at the time of recording and the preservability of an image after recording but also writing properties by together using porous silica in an ink receiving layer in an amount equal to or less than that of porous basic pigment. CONSTITUTION:In ink jet recording paper wherein at least one ink receiving layer containing porous basic pigment is provided on a base material, porous silica is together used in the ink receiving layer in an amount equal to or less than that of porous basic pigment. As the porous basic pigment constituting the ink receiving layer, porous fine particulate pigment is used. As porous silica used together with porous basic pigment, one having a specific surface area of 200m<2>/g or more and also having an average particle size of 0.5-15 mum in the state dispersed in the coating solution for the receiving layer is used. By this method, aqueous ink jet recording paper capable of obtaining a sharp recording image excellent in ink receptivity at the time of recording, having a clear contour and excellent not only in the preservability of the recording image after recording but also in writing properties can be obtained. |
