LOW-PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP

PURPOSE:To ensure electrical connection of a low pressure discharge lamp to an external feeder terminal by providing an external lead wire to the outside face of a crushed sealing portion, and also providing on the outside face of the crushed sealing portion a fitting channel of specific depth in which the external lead wire is fitted. CONSTITUTION:A low pressure discharge lamp 1 is made of a glass bulb 2 in the form of a long and narrow hollow bar and almost shaped like a needle. One end portion of the bulb 2 is crushed and sealed and also the other end portion is chipped and cut for sealing. A cold cathode 4 is sealed as an inside electrode in the crushed sealing portion 3 of the bulb 2 and is connected to a lead wire 5. The lead wire 5 is hermetically passed through the sealing portion 3 and guided to the outside from the end portion of the sealing portion 3. A fitting channel 31 is formed in the outside face of the sealing portion 3 and is molded integrally with the sealing portion 3 at the same time as when the sealing portion 3 is crushed and sealed, and the external lead wire 5 is bent and curved along the channel 31 and fitted therein. The depth of the fitting channel 31 is smaller than the outside diameter of the external lead wire 5 and one part of the outside face of the external lead wire 5 projects from the fitting channel 31 and this projecting portion forms a power receiving terminal 10.
