PURPOSE:To improve the copying performance of a toner by adding an azobis type polymn. initiator to a radical-polymerizable monomer contg. uniformly dispersed carbon black and particles of an electrostatic charge controlling agent, polymerizing the monomer in an aq. phase contg. PVA as a suspension stabilizer and successively subjecting the resulting polymer particles to saponification, washing, pulverization and classification. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black and particles of an electrostatic charge controlling agent are finely and uniformly dispersed in a radical-polymerizable monomer in the form of fine particles of <=1mum particle size. An azobis type polymn. initiator is added to the monomer, they are suspended in an aq. phase contg. PVA as a suspension stabilizer and the monomer is polymerized to obtain spherical polymer particles of 20-300mum particle size. The polymer particles are saponified, recovered, washed, dried, pulverized to 1-30mum particle size and classified to produce a toner having improved copying performance. |
