PURPOSE: To prevent the liquid spill from remaining chambers even if there is such a leak to give rise to the spill of heavy liquid from the respective individual chambers of plural chambers by dividing the lower part of a sepn. zone to the plural chambers and disposing baffles plates within a vessel in order to house the greater part of the heavy liquid. CONSTITUTION: This apparatus is provided with the vessel 14 for defining the sepn. zone consisting of a lower part, intermediate part and upper part and conduits 17 and 19 for introducing the mixture composed of the heavy liquid and light liquid into the sepn. zone are disposed in order to separate the mixture described above. A liquid-liquid boundary 36 is formed in the sepn. zone and the boundary is generated between the heavy liquid and the light liquid. The lower part of the sepn. zone is divided to the plural chambers 54, 56, 58 and 60, and the baffle plates 50 and 52 are disposed in the vessel 14 in order to house the greater part of the heavy liquid. Even if there is such a leak which gives rise to the spill of the heavy liquid from the respective individual chambers of the plural chambers, the occurrence of the spill of the heavy liquid from the remaining safe chambers of the plural chambers is averted. |
