The invention relates to closure caps each having a cap body, formed from a cap base and a collar which encloses this on the outside, for steel pipes coated with thermoplastics, which caps, for protection against contamination and corrosion of the pipe inner surface, engage around the pipe ends on the outside by means of their collars, under prestress, and are provided on their inner side with a substance which can be evaporated by the supply of heat and acts as a protective rust inhibitor. In order to improve a pipe-closure cap of the known type such that the production is rendered less expensive and, in particular, better heat flow to the inhibitor substance is ensured, the invention proposes that the cap body (1, 1a, 1b, 2) consists of a plastic/metal composite material, the outer surface being formed by a plastic layer (5) and the inner surface being formed predominantly by a metal foil (6), that the protective rust inhibitor, distributed over a large surface area of the metal foil (6), is provided on the cap base (1, 1a, 1b), and that, in order to increase the elastic deformability, the metal foil exhibits recesses (7) in the region of the collar (2). <IMAGE>
